New databases

With Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato now offering Pharmacy and Midwifery, we have gained some new resources to support these courses, these resources will also be useful to other disciplines across the Division of Health.

Embase - via Ovid

Access Pharmacy

Clinical Key Midwifery (accessed via our Clinical Key Student Nursing platform) and Clinical Key Pharmacy eBook packages

New resources acquired in 2024

  • Lippincott Advisor to complement Lippincott Procedures.
  • Ovid MEDLINE® (a specialised search interface of PubMed allowing more refined and systematic searching)
  • Joanna Briggs Institute EBP Database (AKA "JBI") via OVID with which we also gained access to JBI SUMARI a handy systematic review software.
  • Ovid Nursing Vocational Journals collection (AKA Journals@Ovid)

We also changed APA PsycNet to the Ovid Platform, which means you can now search Embase, Medline, PsycInfo, & JBI on the same platform.

Clinical Key Training

Juliana Coito, our Customer Service Manager - ANZ for Elsevier Clinical Key will be visiting on Wednesday 05 March 2025 and at 2.30-3.30pm and will provide in-person training here at the University of Waikato for any nursing, midwifery, and pharmacy staff or students on how to get the most out of this platform. The technology is the same for each platform, but she will highlight relevant content for each course. We have booked room 2.23 in Te Manawa for this training.

Logging in to Bates' Visual Guide to Examination

We've had a few issues recently with accessing Bates' Visual Guide to Examination, we have got access fixed, but the login process may not be intuitive for all users. To log in:

  • Navigate to the login page.
  • Select the "Library Continue as anonymous library user" option.

Access to SciFinder

We held training to SciFinder training near the end of last year and as part of it we discovered a few access issues. If you have previously had an account, but haven't used it in 12months, it may need to be reset (just let us know if that's the case) other log in information is available on the SciFinder database page.
