(When).

When was it written, created, or published.

 

Publication date (or copyright date for books, not websites)

What.

What is it called.

Title

Where.

Where can it be found or where was it published.

 

Publisher, Journal name and specifics (volume, issue, DOI), Website name, URL.

Author, A. (Date). Title in italic sentence case (edition info if 2nd ed or higher).  Publisher.

 

Marieb, E. N., & Hoehn, K. (2019). Human anatomy and physiology (11th ed.). Pearson.

Chapter in an edited book

 

Author, A. (Date). Title of chapter in sentence case. In A. Editor (Ed/s.), Title of book in italic sentence case (edition info if 2nd ed or higher., pp. page range of the chapter).  Publisher.

 

Richardson, F., McEldowney, R., & Puckey, T. (2015). Cultural safety in mental health. In D. Wepa (Ed.), Cultural safety in Aotearoa New Zealand (2nd ed., pp. 159-176). Cambridge University Press.

 

Notice that for the editor/s the initials come first
